Your faith may or may not cause difficulties in your life, but there are many Christians around the world who are faced with persecution because of what they believe. These people have faith that they hold onto no matter how difficult life gets, and their stories are not shared as much as they should be. It is important for everyone to know about the persecution of Christians that is taking place around the world.
Some Christians are Being Murdered:
As you start to look into Christian persecution, you will find that there are many countries where people are being killed for living out their faith. In countries such as Libya, some are being murdered simply because they are Christians. Lives are taken in countries where the government allows things to be done to Christians without paying attention, and there are also some places where the government is behind the killings. Violence and fear are a part of the everyday life of many Christians around the world.
Some Christians are Kidnapped and Put in Terrible Situations:
When you head of kidnappings, you might think of the children of rich individuals being taken and held for ransom. In many countries around the world, the types of kidnappings taking place are much different than that. There are Christian girls who are being taken to places like Egypt and being given to men to be married. These girls go from living with their families to living with strangers who have no respect for their faith.
Some Christians are Beaten or Made to Become Slaves:
There are many countries where a person will share their Christian faith and then be arrested simply because of that. There are places where Christians are being beaten because of their beliefs, and this can happen to both the young and the old. In some countries, Christians are being taken from their homes because of their beliefs and being used as slaves to serve those who are in power. Christians are given the chance to deny their faith and turn toward whatever is being taught to them or go through terrible pain and sometimes a life of slavery.
Some Christians are Given an Out if They Deny Their Faith:
While you might wonder how Christians can go through so much around the world and still hold onto their faith, most have such strong beliefs that the persecution only makes them stronger. When given an out, if they simply deny their faith, most Christians will hold true to what they believe. They trust that either God will rescue them from the situation that they are in, or they will at least have a better home waiting for them when they die. Many face persecution only to become bolder in what they share and where they are willing to speak up about their faith.
Even Lesser Forms of Persecution Can be Hurtful:
Some Christians in a place like China are arrested for their faith and face long imprisonment, but those who have not been arrested face difficulties, too. It can be hard to get access to Bibles and other literature in a place like China, making it hard for people to learn more about their faith and grow closer to God. It can be difficult, too, to gather in groups and worship together. In other countries, things like getting a good job or a good education might be difficult for Christians. Some are made to renounce their beliefs in order to get promotions or keep their families together. Children are ridiculed for their faith and stopped from praying in school or talking about their beliefs with others. Even persecution that is not a matter of life or death can take a toll on those dealing with it.
Whether you are a Christian or not, hearing about the things that people go through around the world because of their faith can be difficult. The more that people become aware of the persecution that is going on, the greater the chance of those who are creating the violence and pain being held accountable for what they are doing. The persecution of Christians should be something that is discussed around the world today.
